About Me - VocationVillage I help clients to increase workplace satisfaction and success. Here are some other things to know about me:Before I became a psychologist, my first career was in tech in software development, marketing, project management, and recruiting. I still enjoy working with clients in the tech industry.When I worked in recruiting, I felt sad about how often my job forced me to reject candidates for jobs, so I started doing volunteer work to teach people how to land the jobs they wanted. Thats how I became interested in career counseling.I moved eight times before I finally decided to make my business location-independent and to offer virtual career coaching and counseling.Ive lived in California, Wisconsin, Alabama, Texas, Washington, Oregon, and Colorado.I wrote and published a book featuring 15 career experts: Choosing Your Career: Proven Strategies for a Satisfying Life.Im a fan of career and personality assessment. I view assessment as one of the best ways to start a dialogue about a persons core strengths, interests, personality,and values.Ive worke d in universities, community mental health agencies, hospitals, corporations, start-ups, and private consultation with individuals.From 1999 to 2008, I founded and ranBridgeway Career Development, a Seattle area career and leadership coaching firm.From 2009 to 2011,I managed the career counseling team at University Career Services (UCS), University of Houston. UCS assists 38,000 students and 200,000+ alumni with all aspects of career development.My coaching practice specializes in career development services via webcam, telephone, and email.I am certified as a Master Personal and Executive Coach through the College of Executive Coaching, the leader in coach training for professionals with graduate degrees.My educational background includes a B.A. in Economics from UCLA and a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from The University of Texas at Austin.My dissertation research found that changeable aspects of personality are predictive of overall life satisfaction.. .
